Hostages released in Burkina Faso: the French have done "a great job" for Donald Trump




The US president expressed his gratitude to France for having released the four hostages who had been kidnapped in the Sahel, at the cost of the deaths of two French soldiers. The French did "a great job," said Donald Trump.

Donald Trump said Monday that the French had done a "great job" by releasing hostages, including an American, in northern Burkina Faso, at the cost of the death of two commandos navy.

"The French have done a great job, we are really grateful," Donald Trump told the White House, recalling that the Americans had contributed to this operation by providing information to the French.

South Korean woman and American woman freed


France will give Tuesday a national tribute to two naval commandos Cédric Pierrepont and Alain Bertoncello, in the courtyard of the Invalides in Paris, in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron.

The French special forces released four hostages in the night from Thursday to Friday: two French, one South Korean and one American. The presence of these two women in Burkina Faso was not known.

Great discretion surrounds the former US hostage, whose repatriation was organized independently of the other three released. The US State Department declined to comment on her identity, the circumstances and the date of her abduction.
